or they were wild things…
New Work by Flint Weisser
My latest works are inspired by the apocalyptic landscapes and creatures from Jeff Vandermeer’s surrealistic novel “Dead Astronauts”. I was inspired not only by characters in the book, but also the staccato rhythm of the narrative as it shifts dimensions, or repeats a variation of a scene. I filtered this narrative through my love of rubber-hose animation, kaiju, and horror films. Characters used with the permission of Jeff Vandermeer.
Originally from Idaho, Flint moved to Brooklyn to attend Pratt Institute, where he graduated with an MFA in 2008. He is fascinated with sculpture, garage science, and funky rums. His work has been featured in galleries across the U.S, in the collection of the National Museums Scotland, and on the Wired:Science, Scientific American, and Discover websites. Flint currently resides in downtown Nampa, Idaho with his wife, son and dog.
