New York City based Erin and Her Cello are thrilled to announce that their six member ensemble are back to perform in the beautiful state of Idaho.  Erin Hall, singer/songwriter and cellist, is Boise born and raised,  but has been writing and performing in New York City for the past 15 years. Their genre crossing music –surf rock, funk, french pop and more– will have you tapping your toes, singing along, and laughing out loud in every performance. “Sounds like? Blossom Dearie fronting They Might Be Giants.” (The Philadelphia Enquirer). Erin and Her Cello will be making their Garden City debut at Visual Arts Collective on Friday, August 11th, 2017, 8pm show. Limited Seating. The Lars Jacobsen Trio will open the show.

Erin and Her Cello have been charming audiences with their “quirky, vivacious, and undeniably unique” (Strings Magazine) performances all over the east coast. From Joe’s Pub to the Brooklyn Academy of Music, Rockwood Music Hall to World Café Live, this kooky songstress, her stringed soul mate, and her six person band, cannot be confined to one musical genre. Their latest album, “Petits Bisous” packs a delightful retro punch — playfully melding 50’s/60’s doo wop, surf rock, jazz, funk, and french pop.  As always, this winner of Stand Up NY’s “Music is a Joke” contest, and darling of the downtown NYC comedy scene, underscores every song with deft wit.  “Erin is a hilarious chick with a sense of humor as finely tuned as her cello… she wields her bow with the same wit and saavy that a satirist wields his pen!”(Doug Wright, playwright, 2004 Pulitzer Prize Winner for Drama)  The trick is–you really do need to see Erin and her Cello live. There is simply no act that marries great music and hilarious lyrics the way that Erin and her Cello do. All that–and you won’t be able to stop smiling too.

The ensemble features Gabe Shuford on keys, Lars Jacobsen on tenor saxophone, John Bollinger on drums, Adam Enright (also known as Boise Contemporary Theater’s HEDWIG***) and Madison McFerrin on backup vocals, with Hall on cello (bass) and lead vocals. The Lars Jacobsen Trio will be the featured opener for the performance.

*** Yes, you read that correctly. Erin obviously has great taste, as actor Adam Enright has been a backup singer with Erin since she first started writing music. She was NOT AT ALL surprised when Mr. Enright was cast as HEDWIG for Boise Contemporary Theater’s production of Hedwig and the Angry Inch in October of 2016, and will definitely be featuring Adam in their performance at VAC on Friday, August 11th, 2017. SMALL, WONDERFUL WORLD! ***

Erin and her Cello love writing music and dancing to Michael Jackson. Prior Idaho appearances include the Sapphire Room and Meridians’ Concerts on Broadway Series. NYC appearances include Joe’s Pub, Rockwood Music Hall, Ars Nova, Union Hall, UCB Theater, The Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM) CMJ Music Festival, Pianos, “Broad City Live”.  Winner of the 2009 Stand Up New York Musical Comedy Contest.Jingle Contributor to MTV’s Girl Code. Member of Eliot Glazer’s Haunting Renditions.  Their sophomore album, Petits Bisous, is on Itunes, Amazon, and erinandhercello.com. They are currently recording their third album.
